Ugh, you know when you wake up with a headache and take advil and it still won't go away and you really don't want to get up off the couch to pack to go to Arizona and polish keychains to bring to Ginger Root and throw out a zillion boxes that are just stacked up in the hallway? no?

Anypoo, I recently discovered that Jcrew has the best backpacks, but they are hiding in the kids section!

And I'm not sure if this is in the girl's section, but I want it. Real bad.

hey kiddos. I thought i'd take this time to write a little bloggidy blog! It's friday night, my mom is visiting, B is out of town on biz. Mommy is knitting socks on the couch. We are watching Damages on Netflix from the beginning. I made a hot toddy.

Directions:

Boil water.
Put honey in mug. A cute mug.
Pour in hot water.
Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and nutmeg.
Squeeze a slice of lemon, plop it in.
Add a splash of yummy bourbon. Or rum. Or anything.

Delish!

I wonder if we can finish this whole season tonight.

So, what are you up to?? Hmmm? I'm obsessing over how many things I'm selling on Fab.com right now. It's horrible. It great and horrible. Everything is stressful.

You can also buy cell phone cases (among other things) with her illustrations on them, and I am DYING. If I didn't just get one from my brother I would be buying these in a second.

So things are still pretty crazy busy around here. which is fab. and tiring. speaking of fab, i should be having another fab.com sale on Friday (which you would see in the preview email if you are signed up!) So if it's anything like it was in November, which I'm hoping because of V-Day, things are gonna get wilddddddd.

And my mommy is coming to visit for a few days on Thursday, so that will be good! And I have to make some more pillows for Stitchtagram.com...anddddd then at the end of the month I'm off to Tuscon for the gem show!! THE GEM SHOW. of life. Every year there is an enormous jewelry/stone/everything show. In Arizona. Am I repeating myself? Needless to say, I'll have sooooo many new and exciting stones to work with next month!! Ahhhh scary.

I can't believe it's been a month since I wrote! WHAT HAPPENEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. I guess the holidays happened. And craft fairs. And Stitchtagram.

Well, here are some updates, in Instagram form:

New Years Eve with the ladies!!!! (I'm on the bottom right! with the funny bangs)

The bar we went to was having a St. Germaine special, and if you got two special cocktails you got a cocktail book and mini bottle of the deliciousness!! I was in heaven.

For Christmas, I went with B's family to Puerto Rico! (I am going backwards in time, if you haven't noticed). Here is a shot of some fluffy clouds when we got home.

We saw a horse in a truck.

My turquoise heart ring by the ocean- doesn't it look like I'm in front of a green screen?

And to top it all off, Ben and I got bumped to first class when we flew there! It was MAGNIFICENT.

Hey trusty blog readers!! Sorry about the lack of excitement in these parts. With December comes insanity, pretty much. Our apartment is just a mess of packing materials and empty glasses and dirty socks.

BUT. that's not why I'm here. i'm here because as of yesterday, Stitchtagram is alive!!! It's a thing I've been developing with my brother Doug, who works at Barbarian Group in Boston. He made the amazing website where you can log into Instagram and access your pics and your friends pics, and drag and drop them into a grid design that I then sew into a throw pillow!!! You just need to go and try it. The site is www.stitchtagram.com. Here are some pics!!

Zombie shows

Have you ever seen The Walking Dead on AMC? I hadn't either until ohhh, about two days ago. We watched the first season and all of the second season up until the new episode tonight. It's so gross and stressful and scary and I don't know why I keep watching it but I can't stop. The first season is on Netflix Instant, in case you have that.

Anyhoo. I have a very very large box of envelopes waiting to go to UPS for all of my Fab orders. Scary!! So scary thinking about they all get to where they are going. Crazy pants. I have a few more that I am going to finish tomorrow. And by that, I mean I have to. And I have to catch up on orders. And make some other things. And list some new designs, for crying out loud!

Crazy Train

Crazy town? crazy train? Were both bands? or songs? i dont know. I do know I'm almost going crazy. In a fine way! a great way. still a crazy way though. so much to do! so many boxes everywhere! Boxes filled with boxes! Did I tell you this story yet? I could easily look at my last post but I'm too lazy. I'll just tell it again.

So I ordered my priority boxes from the post office website. They are free, it just makes it easier to have them delivered here than sneak them from the post office. The gruff but kind-eyed post office guy yelled at me once for taking too many. Even though they are free. and I use them.

Anyway. So I ordered them on the website, and about two weeks later, there are four HUGE boxes in the lobby waiting for me. So heavy I can't even lift one. I take the push cart, and lug them upstairs. Oh, and they say BOARD GAME in huge letters on the side. I see on the label it is from the post office, so I think maybe they want to disguise the boxes as board games so they don't get stolen. Then I quickly realize the error in my logic.

Anyway. Horrible, long story short, I accidentally clicked on the board game sized priority boxes. You know, for the grandma's who send out Monopoly for Christmas. And now I have 100 of them. They are so big and heavy. I cried for about an hour. Ben thought I was weird.

In conclusion, I told my post office friends about it (oh, and there's a good chance my post office is going to close. AWESOME). They didn't even know there WERE board game sized boxes. He gave me labels to put on them, to get sent to the post office for them to use. I'm just so lazy to go downstairs, get the cart, put the boxes on them, ask the people in the lobby in the office if I can put them in there so they can tell the mail man to pick them up. oH, WOE IS ME.

So how was that for a sob story? SO LONG AND BORING. I know. I don't get out much these days. No sir. Lots of pop tarts for me. and latte's. And gossip girl on netflix. My coffee table is completely covered in the orders from my fab.com sale. I'll post a picture tomorrow. I also bought a vanilla/pomegranate perfume that was on super sale at urban outfitters that I loved so much, but after I wore it for a day, I keep smelling that smell you smell like when you go eat in a diner or a greasy restaurant. You know? That food smell? Like, a gross hot food smell. Ben has no idea what I'm talking about. I'm terrified it's the vanilla/pomegranate. It came in such a cute roll on bottle. oh well.

Hi peeps.

I know I've been totally absent lately (maybe no one even noticed?). things have been ca-ra-zay and will probably continue to be so until Christmas. I had a sale on FAB.com, and now have a few hundred things to make and ship rather quickly! I also went home for a craft fair in Northampton, MA, and will be going to one in New York for the Bust Craftacular! (December 10th and 11th! In Soho!)

So as you can imagine, I'm not really sure what to do first or where to start when I wake up in the morning. I have a trash bag full of about 30 packages I have to bring to UPS, I haven't gone grocery shopping in nearly two weeks (neither has Ben.)

I've been surviving on beans and cheese. And not even refried beans. BLACK BEANS. Good lord, what's happening to me. But now I'm up early and am going to go to UPS and perhaps Giant, a supermarket I've never actually been to before, and then come back and work. Maybe stop at Target. Maybe.

Last night we had a cocktail party. It was fun, but I had major anxiety because the apartment was so clean and there was nothing on the tables or floor and I was just nervous about it all. Also, we put the exercise bike and ben's regular bike in our bedroom, and that freaked me out too, for whatever reason. I think I'm getting more neurotic every minute.

I decided to wear a romper (that's shorts!) from Anthro that I've never worn in my life, but I was a hit I tells ya, a hit! I also just bought those tights from a record store next to my post office that I walk by every day and never went into!

Messy Apartment, or, That time I wrote a blog post just to tell myself it's ok to have a messy apartment.

I always get a pang of jealousy when I go into someone's apartment that is....how do I say this.....empty? Nothing on the floors, tables nice and clear, bags upon bags not hanging from the backs of chairs. My brother lives somewhat like a minimalist, with carefully chosen furniture and design pieces. I think I live like the opposite of a minimalist, and Ben is just along for the ride (though slightly begrudgingly).

There are lots of reasons for the excess in things. A) I work from home, and while I could have a huge studio with a room for packing and shipping and stations for every single aspect of jewelry making, the whole operation is more or less jammed into the very edge of the living room. Therefore, things tend to spill over into the rest of the room. Like boxes. And pliers. And stones. And beads. (Yes, beads. I know. What's happening to me.)

And B). We got married! And got lots and lots of (wonderful and plentiful) gifts!! So at the moment I'm attempting to rearrange the living room in order to fit all of our new tables and lamps and bowls and vases.

I'm going to show you some pictures. Don't be disturbed- they make the apartment look WAY more hoardier than it is. I hope, at least. Let's go on a tour, shall we?

This lovely little end table will now serve as my tiny packing station. That big ol' box of envelopes used to be in it's place, up until 2 minutes ago. I think the table looks better- no?

But now where do I put this enormous box of envelopes??

All I need to do is clear off this stool, and I wouldn't have to stand over the workbench hunched, working. Why don't I clear it off? i don't know.

Ahhh. My beautiful new book shelf. I can't wait to decorate the edges of the shelves and paint a chalk board on the side where that bag is hanging!

This is where sh*t gets a little crazy. ( I still haven't decided if I can swear on here. I probably can.)

Note the little gym in the left corner, consisting of a stationary bike I have yet to use more than twice, and a stability ball that I fantasize about doing sit ups on. I love the new giant clock (CB2, wedding gift). All of the pictures in that vertical row are Etsy related (either bought on Etsy, or bought from craft fairs from vendors who are on Etsy). We got that old school map at a yard sale a while ago. That magazine rack all the way on the right is one of my favorite additions (also wedding gift, also CB2- (thanks Emily and Chris, if you are reading this!)

My parents bought that record player on top of the book shelf, with the speakers, instead of going on a honeymoon. I love that. Ben and my dad made that record stand peaking behind the magazine rack when we were home sometime last year. Daniela and Sam got us that cool blanket on top of the hideously upholstered (but free) recliner!

This is where things get scary looking. I just need to move those cardboard boxes, and things should look slightly more sane. Hi House!

I do love these though. The little stack of plates was a wedding gift from a small town in France where a famous writer spends time, who came to our wedding. I LOVE them. The vase was also a gift (thanks Josh!) And that TABLE. Ben's friend Bender made it from wood salvaged from NYC water towers! How cool is that?? He makes furniture in New York.

Another glorious view of my little staged set up. That there is soy milk in my coffee. Something crazy is happening to me I think.

This morning I woke up and decided to stop eating dairy for a week and see what happens to me. What if I transform into a different person?! I think I might.

Okay. If you are still reading this, you truly are a champ. Also funny, this is how I look right now as I write this:

My mom got it for me. I don't think I'll ever wear anything else again. It is the PERFECT stay-at-home jeweler uniform.

So. That's it. I'm off to chance (because today is the one day I have to go work in public. At Ginger Root! Now with online store!!)

Hi!

Last night I walked in Ginger Root's runway show for Ready Set DC's Fashion: District. It was pretty wild. I wore my own Lady Bloomers that I had bought from them a while ago, and an amazing yellow and blue shirt, which I ended up buying. I wore it home from the fashion show, and am actually wearing it right now! I can't wait to see the real pictures, but here's one we took on my friend Sadie's phone, who I wrangled into walking too.

I ALSO bought a new nail polish product which I am very excited about. Haha. So excited though, really. It's Esse and it's a matte top coat, so it makes whatever polish you use have a matte, non shiny finish. Which I'm kind of obsessed with right now, for some reason.

Also I made some things yada yada yada, but I'll post those later! Tuna calls! (Ben just seared some tuna.)

HI kiddies!

I'm all amped up on coffee and ready to BLOG. so. what's doin? I'm going a little wacky over here- we miss the honeymooning life! And now I have all sorts of wholesale projects to get done within the next couple of weeks, not to mention it's basically christmas. I know, it's not, but in my brain it is!

So now I'm wearing a onesie, sitting on the couch, about to try to design a label for little plastic pouches to pack jewelry in for the craft fair! Andddd I'm editing some pictures to list some new drusy bits- wanna see??

I want to make all sorts of little drusy necklaces that can be worn together in different ways! Like stackable rings, but necklaces. Cute?! CUTE.

Oh, here's something I need to get off my onesie-clad chest. I went to Target yesterday, (where I bought a pretty little peasant top and a hilarious cropped long sleeves grey shirt with a giant heart?!) (and a scarf I definitely don't need) and I found the VERY LAST Missoni article of clothing I think- it was a blue thin puffer jacket with blue zig zags. I got super excited, tried it on, realized it wasn't that flattering.But I was still swept up in everything. So I took it in my cart and fantasized about selling it on Ebay. Then I realized, I probably wouldn't do that. Then I thought, maybe I'll just wear it? Then I thought, it's not that flattering on. Then I thought, why do I want it so badly? SO I put it back!! Biggest mistake ever?! I DON'T KNOW!!!

We are in beautiful NYC this fine morning.

We both have the worst colds, but those didn't start until after the wedding.

Eating lunch at Balthazar's, and having a waitress ask me if I looked familiar because I was an actress.

Also eating across from Alan Alda the next night.

Obviously this trip has focused on eating.

The crazy girl getting married on Saturday with a super pimply chin??? Who is stressed out and keeps touching it?? and it just keeps getting worse?!

Anyway, you haven't heard from me for a while because i'm going a little crazy. The seating chart is done though, the goody bags packed, my dad is working hard on making all of the little wooden/test tube vase/ escort card holders. Parents are the best.

Oh! And I went on a hilarious bachelorette adventure to Atlantic City!! The highlight had to be dancing in a swimming pool to Paulie D from Jersey Shore dj's. And then a guy started throwing singles into the pool at us. And then we started grabbing. And then we ended up with $96 of the $100 (we saw the money band that said it was a stack of a hundred). And then we went to get pizza with it.

Well, not too lazy. I went to the Post Office, and joined the panicked masses at Safeway. I bought loads of hurricane essentials, such as Annie's Fruit Snacks, Sun Chips, pears, and refried beans.

Last night, I went to a DC Fashion Blogger Meet Up at one of my favorite stores, Violet Boutique, in Adams Morgan.

I wrote an elephant dress I got from there, and was sporting my polished new hair do. I also became BFF with jewelry designer Diamente! It was great fun to meet another jeweler and we had a blast talking to blogger, but mostly gabbing about post office visits and chain types.

Honeymoon Earrings

Two things:

Ben and I are now obsessed with the show Damages. Did I mention that? Does anyone else watch it? This second season I'm pretty confused, but that's ok. I'll play along.

Secondly, I made these super fun pyrite fringe earrings for my boss/friend/awesome designer Kristen of Ginger Root Design of DC. She got the stones on her honeymoon in West Virginia!

Crazy day

Today, my friends was a crazy day. It started off great, I got free sunglasses with my contacts, got all amped up on coffee...

And then Sadie came over and yada yada yada, I was showing her shoes I ordered for the wedding (which I hope fit)..

And lo and behold, the couch starts shaking! And the tv starts wobbling!! and it doesn't stop! So, we open the door (which was slightly jammed), and sprinted down the stairs. I didn't even have shoes on, I left the apartment door wide open, no phone, no nothin'. I never ran so fast. I honestly thought the building was crumbling.

Earthquake! Crazy stuff.

So after wandering around dazed, with everyone asking everyone in the street if they had cell reception (which they didn't), we went back up, had water and frozen strawberries, and then had drinks on a rooftop of a bar. Here is Sadie wearing her pair of silver heart studs in her second hole (darling).

I went to the eye dr. the other day for new contacts. Apparently I have pointy eyeballs? Anyway, I got new contacts that are like, extra deep, and it's freaking. me. out.

Anyway. All I want to do is eat dark chocolate I bought from Trader Joes. Instead I'll post pictures of some new things.

So, things are getting a little kooky around here.
But first, here's a picture of my and Molly's knees that a) look the same and b) have funny faces in them.

Reasons:

1. Must send out a rush order for a super honey knuckle ring, which I have to make. Right now.
2. I need to print all sorts of labels for packages but am out of ink.
3. I need to put together a medium sized wholesale order for a DC store.
4. I need to finish this mug of coffee. I put some sugar in it this time, and it's SO MUCH EBTTER.
5. I hate that I need sugar in this stupid coffee.
6. The apartment is actually disgusting. The hall light is out, and I can't see anything to clean in there. And it's a mess. So I need to call down and have a man come up and change it for me. (It's really hard to change!)
7. Oh, I'm getting married in less than a month?
8. We need to write the Ketubah (the Jewish marriage agreement vows thing)
9. I need to figure out when I'm going home to do everything else for the wedding.
10. I pray to god that my oxygen tank for the torch doesn't run out today.

Listen. Ever since I read about this Poppy King lipstick for J Crew, I knew it had to be mine.

And after talking about it non-stop, Sadie and Julia bought it for me. (I have a sneaking suspicion that I wrote about this already...too lazy to check. A little repetition never hurt anyone. A little repetition never hurt anyone. haha. i just made myself laugh in bed.)

Today, as opposed to tonight, I went to Target and bought two little paper gift bags that I've been eyeing. They were .99 cents for two. Who knew you could love a .50 gift bag so much? I just want to make it into a dress.

But I can't, so I used it to hold my earrings so I can admire them.

And then I was really enjoying how my hair looked, so I took some pictures and pretended to me a model for .5 seconds.

I got some things done. It's been a year as of yesterday since Ben proposed to me, which is so freaky that it makes my head hurt. How did a year go by already?! WHAT HAPPENED.

So, to celebrate, we went out to this great restaurant in DC called Estadio and had tapas and tasty drinks.

here I am again, at the airport. What a hoot! My flight was supposed to be taking off...now...but it is delayed until 7:10. Main was a delight, here is some proof:

When I become a millionaire I will be sure to buy a green peacoat from them.

On the epic road trip of the summer after college ('08???), Ben, Steve and I listened to a lot of country radio. One song in particular gets stuck in my head often. It goes a little somethin' like this:

A long, pictorial tutorial on a failed ring display

I had big plans for this craft, let me tell you. I've been wanting some way to display my rings on the wall, because table top space is scarce in the apartment.

The only problem was that I had zero supplies! And no good craft places around here. So, I used what I had. Cheap, thing cork board squares from CVS. Hot Glue. Crappy scissors. A swiss army knife. Make that two.

So, here you go! Don't get too excited, it's a pretty big failure!

So I started with two cork squares, and traced a smaller square on one.

Then I attempted to cut the square out.

Then I used a fun Google puzzle pen to draw trace the inner square onto the other piece. I don't remember why.

See? That's what I did.

Since I don't have any X-acto knifes or none such nonsense, I found Ben's gigantic Leatherman tool. It was a little hard to work with.

So then I got my smaller, cuter, pinker swiss army knife. Hi puppies!

I mean, hi knives!

I just sort of hacked away.

And then I realized I needed more distance between the wall and the top layer of cork, so that the rings had room to move into the cork. Why didn't I just leave the two pieces whole, and cut through both pieces, so that they wouldn't flop all over the place in no man's land? Clearly I crafted before I thought.

I also forgot I had a glue gun, so I used modge podge as a glue, and then used various heavy objects to hold the pieces down. Clearly that didn't work, and then I found my glue gun. And re glued.

And then to decorate it, I cut pieces of glittery pink paper from Michaels!

Ugh. Gross.

Ta- DA! Maybe the ugliest thing I ever made! And the rings don't even stay put!

Ah, Sunday afternoon. What a delightful time. This morning Ben and I brought our Sunday Times up to the pool on the garage roof (I feel like a millionaire every time I'm up there). Then we made a fruit salad, went to Target, and came home! The perfect day.

Ooooh what else. My mum was here all week, so I didn't do a lot of jewelry things, but I just got in a bundle of new drusy stones and can't wait to make rings and earrings galore tomorrow! I have mucho orders to catch up on, need to re-order business cards...oh, yeah, I went to a day long event called Buy Young on Wednesday, which was held at the Chamber of Commerce, Cap. Hill, and the White House! Kal Penn talked to us! It was crazy!

I was way out of my league, but Ben's friend is one of the amazing people who organized it, so I was lucky enough to go. So inspiring! It brought together young business owners from all over the country. I sat near the guy who started Wordpress, heard the founder of Gilt Group speak, and became day-long buddies with Todd of Toddland.com. I was completely drenched by a tidal wave from a cab driving by along with one of the designers behind Hysteric Haus (I literally had a mouthful of gross street water because I was screaming as the wave came crashing down. I wanted to die.) I hung out with the two gals behind the coolest butcher shop in LA, Lindy and Grundy. A press lady told me my sweater was inside out. You can see the back of my head at 00:30 in this CNN clip!

Anyway, it was a pretty wild day, I'll say that much. I didn't take many pics, but here are a few:

It ended with a reception on top of the Bank of America building! So many cupcakes and cups of wine. Also a great view.

John McCaine spoke. He was funny- said that after he lost the election, he slept like a baby- every two hours he'd wake up and cry. Ha.

I made a breakfast that involved ingredients! And nothing frozen!!

My dad has been making it a lot lately at home and keeps telling me to try it. He calls it "Eggs con Tomate" because my family is like, 2% spanish somewhere and we use lots of sort of spanish words with english words, but they aren't really spanish words.

Anyway. Here's what you do:

Take a little, adorable frying pan.

This one will do. Get a tasty salsa. I used this one:

And then, some spinach! Again, I used Trader Joe's Baby Spinach.

And Last but not least, egg whites. Again, I used T.J's. And some cheese, if you want.

So FIRST, put a tad of olive oil in the pan. put half the jar of salsa in to fill the bottom of the pan. Layer on a bundle of spinach, pour on some egg whites, layer on some more spinach, sprinkle some cheese, add a dash of salt and pepper. Then, cover, put on low heat, and let it cook!!! Check on it frequently to make sure it doesn't burn. The salsa will start to simmer a bit, but when the whole thing starts to melt and congeal into one pan of deliciousness, then you are done!

IT'S SO GOOD.

Today was blisteringly hot.

Good thing I have my Ginger Root City Bloomers to wear! It was like walking around naked. Only not.

But dear lord, have you ever seen such pale and thick legs??? What is HAPPENING! Look at the difference between my legs and my thighs! It's like a different person! Good gravy.

Anyway, the bloomers are super comfy and made from a silky nothing vintage fabric that keep you cool.

TO DO THIS FINE SATURDAY:

1. Respond to every email I need to write back to.
2. Scrub the kitchen floor. Yes. It needs to be done and I feel like if I don't do it now, soon all of the white tiles will be turned various colors from food spills. Gross.
3. Attempt to clean up the living room/studio so it doesn't look like I live in a garbage cave.
4. Go to breakfast with best friend's parents, brother, new fiance, and new fiance's parents.
5. Go see said brother's band play at local farmers market.
6. Go work at Ginger Root for a couple hours.
7. DUNZO FOR THE DAY.

I made a few chunky drusy rings that I'm about to take photos of. I'm also doing laundry. I'm also eating so much that I feel like I'm going to explode.

You know that feeling when you just start to eat, and then you aren't hungry but you still want to eat more, so you do? And then eventually you get a little tummy ache and figure well I already have a stomach ache, might as well eat some more?

Yesterday was my birthday! I love having a July 3rd birthday- it's always such a festive weekend! It is also two of my friends' birthdays as well, so we had a big ol' blow out bash on Saturday night. So far this is the only photographic evidence:

Ginger Root Wedding!

You may remember reading about Kristen and Erin- the owners and designers behind Ginger Root Design in DC. (Fun fact: I'm now the shop girl on Thursdays!) Anyway, Kristen got married a few weeks ago back in Minnesota where she is from, and the wedding seemed so magical! She made everything, with Erin's help, from the wedding dress pieced together from segments of her mother's wedding dress, as well as her mother-in-law's, to the Lady Ties that the bridesmaids wore! I know, I know, I've been a terrible blogger. Here's what you missed in my life:

I went home for the weekend to see Wilco at the Solid Sound Festival at Mass MoCA, where I'm getting married in September. It was amazing, quite possibly the best weekend of my life. Just so pleasant, not too hot, had fun with friends. I took zillions of photos and videos, but borrowed my dad's camera. And I don't have the right cord to put the pics on the computer. AND now I also forgot to give my dad back his camera. Oops!

It was pretty darn rainy for two days of the three, so on Saturday Ben got these amazing rubber rain overalls, which he was so excited about. At one point they told everyone to go inside because it was about to rain really really hard, but Ben just sat out in one of our lawn chairs and basked in the down pour. Cute.

Anyway. This weekend a handful of us are going out to Mass Moca (for non wedding related things) to see Wilco's Solid Sound Festival! I hope it's fun. I'm not a huge concert girl, and a festival general makes me want to go to sleep, but this one seems like it will be nice. So I'll be sure to post pictures through out THAT.

And....right now I'm drinking coffee that I brewed this morning that I hate. I love drinking coffees in other people's kitchens. Why? What's wrong with my coffee?

Hold on, I'm going to put more milk and some vanilla, or maple syrup, or SOMETHING.

Well gang, this weekend I did something funny.

I auditioned for a Project Runway spin-off, Project Accessory.

It was in New York, and we were going to Westchester for Ben's grandmother's 92nd birthday party anyway, so I figured I'd give it a go.

I had a special arm band because I spoke to some people before on the phone, and they loved my song.

Here I am waiting, with a weird smile.

The whole thing was strange and surreal, and I ended up singing a VERY awkward few verses of the song. But the judges were clapping to give me a beat, and they were clapping very slowly, so it was just me basically saying "I...Like.....To....Make....Jewelry....All....Day...." and then they stopped me.

BUT long story short, they said that if I expand my pieces and work on a bigger collection (whatever that means), I could get on next season and probably win.

Which is pretty great, since I might not have been able to get married had I gotten on!

So, that was my weekend.

Also, how sweet is this green chandelier? It's hanging in Ben's grammy's house.

I've been so neglectful! This weekend Ben and I took a mini vacation to Baltimore for Saturday night. What a delightful city!

This was taken at the American Visionary Art Museum. It was SO sunny. and the mirrors were SO glaring. I had to close my eyes until ben said NOW or else I had to most horrific facial expressions.

Anyhoo, I'm pooped beyond belief. Still catching up on orders (not a bad thing, I know I know), and I have a few little wholesale projects I'm trying to stay on top of and I need to do some gest blog posts AND send thank you notes for the shower! Ay yay yay!

"The uke burbles. The egg-shaker rattles. And Rachel Pfeffer warbles about the joys of metallurgy.

"I'll grind and torch and sandpaper all day," she sings in "Jewelry All Day," a song she recorded with her friends Steve Kolowich and Noah Bein to celebrate her selection as Etsy's featured seller this week. The lyrics, she says, came to her while brushing her teeth. Bein suggested ukulele accompaniment, and the song was forged.

"I have some regrets: That I didn't brush my hair or put on makeup," Pfeffer, who is 24, says. She made the video herself, "balancing the Flip cam on chairs" and dancing with her hammer. So far, she thinks, it's working: "I've gotten like six orders so far," today, she says, and another blog has reached out about doing a product review.

Pfeffer, who moved to D.C. in September, has been making jewelry full-time for the past year and a half or so. She has a facility for marketing, she says, and "figured if I could write a funny jewelry song, I thought it could give me some buzz."

She played clarinet in high school band, but Pfeffer's only experience in independent music production before this video was in her eighth grade band Sugar Chicken, a band whose work the Internet is not able to produce easily.

Her attempts to convince her father, a jeweler in Greenfield, Mass. Sometimes it feels like everything just happens at the same time, leading to a whirlwind of craziness.

Right now I'm in Greenfield, MA, working in my dad's jewelry shop, making as many drusy rings as my little hands can. And now I have a headache. A bad one. So I left and am in the neat cafe next door, waiting for a bagel and maple cream cheese, which is really just cream cheese drizzled with hot maple syrup. It is quite possibly the best thing in the universe. Oh my god.

It's so good.

And now my fingers are sticky, and my keyboard is sticky.

ANYWAY. I made really fantastic little bundle of drusy rings yesterday!

All but the dark one on the left are naturally colored. Can you believe it??

Oh, and it's free donut day at Dunkin Donuts! Get movin'!

Today I went with my mom to an adorable flower place in North Adams, MA, where Mass MoCa is (where I'm getting married in Sept!)

I went not being very excited about flowers- to me they were just unnecessary, expensive decorations that would die in a day. I just wanted feathers and pom-poms. But after we saw the florist, I can't wait!!!! She knew exactly what I wanted- cheap and colorful.

Anyhoo, after that we stopped by the museum to ask some questions, and they were closed, but I got a nice picture of the upside down trees where the ceremony will most likely happen!

Well kiddos, here I am, watching Seinfeld in a romper wearing loads of eye liner drinking a tumbler full of red wine and Orangina.

And soon we are off to a Brandeis Happy Hour shortly, which should be funny. And we are waiting for our chinese food to get here. And that's about it!

I finally downloaded Instagram for my phone, and now all of my pictures look 1000000 times cooler.

..the shopping bug, that is.

I have been trying, and succeeding, to not buy anything that is not a total necessity. The resulting feeling is an intense urge to shop. Like, I feel it in my stomach. "am i hungry? no, i just really really really want a new pair of shoes."

SO, I guess I'll just post some things here that I want, and then when I become that famous million jeweler/sing/songwriter/tv watcher, I'll purchase them.

I wouldn't mind this.

It is only $336.00. and on sale! what a bargain.

Custom Ring

This ring was a real killer to make. I didn't think I was going live to see the end of it.

But I finished! It's for an engagement ring- I hope the buyer likes it!

It has a citrine and an alexandrite set in two of the beads.

Whew. And I made two more custom nest wedding bands today! Busy busy.

Oh man oh man.

So, for those who listened to the song below, I recorded an even BETTER version complete with egg shaker and ukelele!! I'm in the process of making some kind of video to go with it, so the original version will have to satisfy you for now.

Today went by in a blink! I made 3 heart rings for orders, and 2 new drusy rings. And struggled with iMovie to make some kind of respectable video.

I am crazy about this stone- it's naturally green, and pretty rare, and is a form of garnet called Uvarovite! Pretttttttty.

And these just always make me happy.

So. yesterday I wrote and recorded a song, and after many hours of confusion and fruit leathers, I think I figured out how to post it...i had to make it into a video, and while i could have done something cute with like, puppets and fruit bowls, i just filmed myself sort of keeping rhythm and playing with my hair...so don't pay attention to the video, just the song! and don't really pay attention to the song either? anyway. here goes nothin...

In other news, I am still waiting on solder, which is a good excuse to do non jewelry things. My work area has never looked so clean. I did laundry, I spent hours designing a sticker to get ordered to put on boxes, then decided just to get a customized rubber stamp from Etsy (can't wait to use it!). I ordered some stones I needed, and some other supplies. So in other words, I spent lots of money without making anything. But you gotta spend moolah to make moolah, am I right??
