Holy Canoli!

I'm writing this post with 10 minutes left on my computer battery at gate C28 in Logan Airport, awaiting my short flight back to DC.

What a whirlwind of a trip! I left Ben on Sunday, hours after he threw out his back and was more or less immobile. Some fiance I am, right? But alas, wedding duties called! I flew home to Western MA, where my mum and I finally got Save the Date magnets out. To most people.

We also decided on a menu with the caterers, and I'm pretty sure I came to conclusion that I don't want wedding cake, but rather a table full of locally made organic pies! With pretty signs and labels, and a banner that says Oh Me Oh My, Love That Country Pie (bob dylan).

And I worked a lot with my dad and went a little wacky with Valentine's Day orders. And then I went to Boston and danced with my best gal pals at Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge, where there were lots of awkward girls dancing like the Sims, to quote my friend, which I thought was hilarious. Not that I'm any better than they are! To the contrary!

Now I'm wearing an itchy sweater, I look disgusting, and I can't wait to be home and nap.

I'm HOME in MA, and feel very out of the computer loop! I've been working like mad on Valentine's Day orders.

House Tour!

I've always wanted to do a house tour like they do on Apartment Therapy and such, so when I was at my brother's new apartment in Boston yesterday, I snapped some pictures with my trusty phone to show off his keen design skills. Enjoy!

Here I'm channeling the Man Repeller in my new favorite and unbelievably unflattering high waisted jeans and new pink ruffle socks from American Apparel.

So, I'm home in MA this week, but hopefully I'll be able to post a couple videos from good old western ma! I got in some a-ma-zing drusy stones today that i'll share with you's soon!!

The evolution of the bike.

 Once upon a time, a girl named Rachel was working at the Boston Museum of Science and making jewelry on the side. This was the first bike she made.

 

 Then she learned how to solder better, and set stones in bezel cups. But instead of stones, used little beads.

 

 Then she learned how to MAKE her own bezel cups, and set little opals.

Then she learned how to make a bike and cast it with her dad, and made this brass version with little hearts.

 

 

Then she made a smaller version, which she also cast, and made into rings, necklaces, and earrings! 

And then she got crazy about oxidizing things black and adding some gold accents.

 

And so far, that has been the evolution of the Rachel Pfeffer Bike. I think I'd like to go back to the more freehand versions of the originals though, for a little change up!

Oh, Shmello there.

Today I bought socks.

Pink socks, with a white ruffle. From American Apparel.

And mustard tights.

It was the most I've ever spent on footwear that wasn't shoes.

Should I feel guilty?

Also, did you know Sex and the City is playing on E? That's kind of fun.

Also, I need to make a lookbook. Stat. I don't know how.....eeeeek. Be my model?

Also, my old college suitemate Amy has a really clever and neato blog called I Like You Like You.

It's great fun. She posts rad pictures and has funny titles that relate to the text and the pictures and I don't even know how she does it, it's so smart. You're so smaht, Amy.

I made this ring yesterday, and cannot get The Circle Game song out of my head!

I've been craving a huge pair of heart earrings...maybe that will be today's project!

An experiment in prongs!

My knuckles smell like coffee because I just threw out the filter from today's batch.

I was working like CRAZY today and feel super unsettled and don't know why! I made all sorts of lists to remember what I need to do, and I still feel antsy. Oh well!

Some things I did today:

Since the first Swinging Man sold, I knew I had to make a new one! Meet Mr. Fantastic. He has a little heart on his chest!

 

I finished these two matching rings for a mother/daughter order. People always ask if it's hard to part witwith the jewelry I make... it was hard to part with these! They came out SO amazing I just want to make them all day long.

 

These are my pronged experiments- the purple stone is a hunk of brazilian amethyst that looks like a jolly rancher to me, and the blueish one is a wacky drusy. Thoughts?? They aren't quite done yet...

 

ANDDDDD that's all I suppose!  No video today- too busy! hopefully an early morning one tomorrow though! are people still watching?

Apparently I can't upload my second episode of Rachel's World while sitting in this here coffee shop, so I guess you will just have to wait until I go up to upload in!

In the mean time, I just made this new bow ring, which I'm smitten with! Instead of having the band go almost all the way around like I usually make them, I attached the band to the sides of the bow, making it more streamlined! !

 

And the bow is twisted, which is always fun.

Spinach.

I've been eating a lot of it lately, mostly because I recently rekindled my relationship with Annie's Goddess Salad Dressing. It. is. so. good.

I can't emphasize that enough. I would drink it if I could. Or eat a bowl of it like soup. Seriously.
