Flash Mob Wedding

This past December, a friend Ben's (and now me!) from high school got married in an ADORABLE and groundbreaking "flash mob" at the mall in the Prudential Center in Boston. I wish we could have gone!!

Whenever I have custom orders to make I always end up making a billion things other than what I actually need to make.

It has it's ups and downs. Good because I end up with tons of new pieces, bad because I still have to do what I need to do!

Good thing there is a billion hour House marathon on to get me through the day.

These were fun/impossible to do, but I love how they look!

 

I love gold against black! I oxidized the band to be so dark and the hearts and cut out of brass sheet.

 

Bling!! I love this little fools gold nugget ring.

 

The newest DREAM BIG amethyst chunk ring! I wore this today and got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS. no joke.

I was putting together some necklaces at this really nice new coffe/yogurt shop in Dupont Circle (DC) called Yola, which was just opened by a gal about my age (mid 20s) (late early 20s?)(i like that more).

The moral of the story is that whenever you put together jewelry in public, everyone LOVES YOU. it was so much fun! People came over, asked what I was doing, took some business cards. It was delightful. Really great coffee shop too! 

Newsies

On NYE, my friend Andy recited the entire opening scene to Newsies. I thought I recorded it, but apparently was wrong. It was a sad moment in my life.

I went to Puerto Rico, I went to New York, I'm back in DC. Some photographic evidence:

New website!

Did I mention I made a new website? I used Squarespace. It is much fun and I'm still learning. My dream is to have a photo slideshow/rotating gallery on the homepage instead of the hand video that is seamlessly integrated, but obviously i have NO idea how to do that! Go check it out! Wrong Number Hilarity

AHHH something so funny just happened.

This guy called my phone 3 times looking for a certain Carissa, and I finally just let it go to voice mail. Then I noticed he left a message, and it said something along the lines of this:

"Hey, Rachel...Sorry, I've been trying to call Carissa. Just wanted to say you sound really cute on the phone, and if you are single in your 20's and are looking for a good looking guy in his 20's, you can give me a call. Not to sound stalkerish, but it's not everyday you get someone on a wrong number who doesn't totally bitch you out. So if you don't feel like meeting someone in a bar, and feel like going out sometime, give me a call. My name's Joe."

How funny is that?????/ I'm pretty sure it's the only time I've ever been told I have a cute voice- which really boosts my self esteem, since I've been under the impression that my voice is especially un-cute!

Are you having any holiday parties? I decided they are one of my favorite things. T minus four days until Puerto Rico vacation, and until then some last minute orders!

Some things

Sorry my posting hasn't been consistent! I can see the light at the end of the holiday-craziness tunnel. Thank goodness though, the orders are still coming in!

Tomorrow I'm getting a haircut way out of my price range, but my hair has been feeling heavy and horse-y lately, so I thought I'd treat myself. We have a couple holiday parties to go to Saturday (one called Christmas Town! Can't wait.)

All I want is to wear loads of red lipstic. And maybe a sequin blazer. And by maybe, definitely.

In other news, poor B had food poisoning and I spent the day nursing him back to health. I wore my onesie from Target (best purchase I ever made) and now he's in bed sleeping, I'm catching up on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! And by catching up, I mean re-watching episodes I've seen probably 5 times already. New episode tonight! What is wrong with me???

I'm almost out of my batch of beautiful blue drusies! Sad. This is the latest ring:

 

It's just so sparkly and deeply blue! I like the effect the frosted silver has on the stone- it really makes it pop!

Party Hardy!

I love having parties!! We had a little bar which Ben tended, plates of cookies and donuts and cheese and mini hotdogs, and everything went! We made two punches: a champagne ginger sparkler which we made using three bottles of cheap champagne, ginger, sugar, and strawberries. The other one was from the NY Times website, Original Chatham Artillery Punch. Be warned if you make it: it's strong!

All in all, it was a smashing success. At 11:30 after everyone left, I basically cleaned up the whole apartment, which is a true delight to wake up to!
