Compliments to the sewer

So I got this shirt in Iceland a few months ago. It's big and silk and is photo-printed with an image of a tapestry all over, and, according to the sales girl, the designer found this rug thing in the attic that her grandma made, and she had it printed onto fabric. Needless to say, I thought that was the coolest thing in the universe, and made ben spend a ridiculous amount of money to buy it for me. (ICELAND IS SO EXPENSIVE).

anyway. This is the shirt on the website:

and me:

Anyway. I'm currently in a coffee shop and a girl just came up to compliment me and I went on and on about the story and it sounded so fake.

Also, I just made a hair cut for thursday, but you know how whenever you  make an appointment to get your hair cut, you love how your hair looks? so then i panicked and asked if they could give me highlights instead, which I don't really want either. I'm just BORED WITH MY HAIR. but i like it. whats wrong with me? now i think i DO need a cut but i already emailed them a million times. good gravy.

in other news,  this is a pretty pic of some necklaces i'm making for Fab:

oh hello there

Here I am, on the couch. I cleaned off our three coffee tables, and I was I could show you a picture that looks amazing with doilies made from vintage magazines (DO PEOPLE MAKE THAT?) and vases made from spraypainted plastic half gallon milk cartons (it's all i can think about lately) (just kidding, i thought about it once. but i want to do it!). Instead, the tables are just NOT covered in every single thing that we could ever possibly need to use. Like, I put nail polishes in the bathroom. Where they belong. I proceeded to drop a can of spray on sun block behind my little drawer things and will most likely never retrieve it until we move. So thanks a lot, nail polishes.

I also threw out a lot of stuff. And put match boxes in another box. TA DA.

oooh, ahhhh.

Note the coasters! Catching the sweat from my iced red eye from this morning that I had about two sips of (it wasn't good ok?). And the empt wine glass from last night. And the reflection in the table of an amazing episode of How Do I Look? And a winning scratch off ticket! ($10 what what).

Let's see what else. I made these:

And these:

I also turned these earrings into opposites!

And I made a new website!

Now I just need to shoot a Look Book, which seems to be what every is doing these days. However, I have no idea what to do. HELP.

CALIFORNIA

Welcome back, world! After a lovely birthday, Ben and I flew off to sunny/cloudy Redondo Beach (FACT: LA is NOT HOT). We decided not to rent a car, and just biked along the beach and ate.

Oh, and we went to our friends' Scott and Gina's wedding, which was a blast! Some pics:

Me and the Hubs:

Look! I can ride a bike!

Fun fact: Bethanny Frankle also has this Madewell sweater, so I'm basically famous.

Mmmmm Gelato.

I found these two rocks with HAIR already on them, so obviously I had to make them into the couple getting married.

Ben and I went to this a-mahzing (happy endings anyone?) Japanese restaurant/stall on the pier in Redondo Beach, tucked between the bars and churro stalls. It was so effing good.

I also got these snazzy sunglasses for $8.

THE END. how was your weekend? fire work fill I hope.

sooo many things

Ok. First of all, hello. Second of all, so many things are happening. Kind of. Maybe absolutey nothing. Let's start from the start.

I was featured as a Refinery 29's 30 under 30 in DC!!

I got that dress the day before at a Gap outlet!!! Who woulda thought? So that was exciting.

I also went home to Western MA this past weekend for Wilco's Solid Sound, at Mass Moca where I got married!! It's a great 3 day festival with comedy (Reggie Watts?!?!?!?!! HE IS SO GOOD). We camped in a friend's backyard, where apparently bears would roaming all night. So that was terrifying. Needless to say, I didn't sleep. Plus we were camping. Plus it was freezing at night and by the morning it was the hottest thing EVER and I would wake up gasping for air.

The funniest part was when we were interviewed by a guy for the two local papers, and the next day were featured on both front pages.

We also saw Foxygen, who were crazy. And a lot of people were watching.

OK. So. I also got some pieces cast that I carved out of wax. And am quite pleased!

What should I call these? The Tutu ring? The Accordian Ring?

And then these puppies:

Also a ring!

WHAT ELSE.

I don't know. That's it.

el derecho cometh!

I'm so terrified of impending bad weather.

I even canceled a facial. A FACIAL. because it's supposed to rain and thunder and I'm always convinced something is going to hit me on the head when it's windy outside.

anyway. so i'm busy putting together a few orders for some places (Fab Europe, Scout Mob), and am currently on the phone with my mom and can't really type complete sentences. so i'm just going to type words. i heart huckabees is on tv. i want thai food so mad.

Anyway. Here's a pic of my Dad from 1973, in one of his first jewelry stores hard at work soldering.

LIKE FATHER LIKE DAUGHTER.

And here's a pic I took of myself, which I will use if I ever become Nico and need an album cover.

allergies?

I never had allergies before, and now I think I do. Constant sneezing, constant nose blowing.

How thrilling, right?

WELCOME. I think I'm just really bad at blogging!

Let's see what I can tell you. For my birthday in a few weeks, Ben and I will be traveling to Redondo Beach near (in?) LA for a wedding/ long weekend. We aren't renting a car, and I am excited to force us to become beach people. Since I hate beaches. But we will like it. Yes we will.

Also, I'm already terrified of the flight. Here's my thing: in the months leading up to any long flight (longer than an hour), I will have panic attacks. I just freak myself out. Once I'm on the plane, I'm usually okay. But not really. I will freak out at any sort of sound. I mean, I think everyone is like that. Who LIKES to fly? Actually, 5-10 year old me, that's who. I'd always get SO EXCITED to go on an airplane. What was I thinking??

I am so envious of people who can sleep the entire flight. When we went to Iceland, I bought z-quil, which did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I even had a glass of wine with it, which just made me nervous that something was about to explode inside my body, like a liver or a spleen. So that plan backfired.

Anyway, one friend swears by Dramamine, others by Xanax. Do you have any tricks? And by tricks, I mean drugs you enjoy and find useful? In other words, someone just tell me that EVERYONE FLIES ALL THE TIME AND ITS TOTALLY FINE AND SAFE.

In other news, my dear pal Emily is off to Canada for the summer. When she moved her, I lent her one of my mustachioed Portuguese ceramic dogs (which apparently are all over the place), to keep her company in a weird boarding house style situation she had going on. Anyway. Now they are back together. Reunited at last. I really wish I had a fire place with a mantel, so they could sit on top it. With a little bunting hanging on the wall between them, made out of some crafty shit like twine and tin foil. With washi tape. Obvs.

Also this morning I made two rings, finally. I've been taking a wax carving class, which is fun, but I'm spending so much time stressing out about all the trendy chevron and arrow things I should be carving without totally know how, that I haven't actually soldered anything new in a while. So I made these!

Ooooh, ahhhh.

And when I was done with those, and done with the rest of my orders for the day, I sat down and tried to carve the most spectacular dachshund you ever did see. But their feet kept breaking :(

so that's sad. The one on the right in the middle is my best bet I think....would you just LOOK at that fucking ear. I think one side will be smooth, and one will my textured. so you can wear it either as a long haired or a short haired!!!!!!!!! WHAT DOYATHINK OF THAT.

Oh man. I'm having trouble typing right now. Every other word has been deleted and corrected. Except that one. That one I Didn't have to go back and fix. Or any of those. but I swear, a ton of the others words I've typed have been messed up. I promise. now i'm just typign to see. THERE. typing. anywya. goodnight,.

WEEKLY SPECIAL

hello world! so. a little while ago I found a limited amount of these super cool vintage hinged-link segments. They are hard to describe, but definitely awesome looking. So I added sterling silver posts and ta-da! They are now amazing limited edition dangles. They are brass with some sort of blue colored stone, and they hang straight from the ear lobe but have an awesome movement to them. And so for this week and this week only (starting RIGHT NOW) I am putting them on sale for $26 from $40! Hurry before they run

New Bits

Howdy kiddos! Just me. Posting drusy things I made. Watching Princess Long Island on Bravo. (should be it be Princesses OF Long Island? Or Princesses: Long Island?) Anyway. It's ridiculous and I love it.

We also went to the Satellite Room for Emily's temporary going away party (she returns in the fall, thankfully). Anyway. It's behind the 9:30 Club, and they make amazing boozy milkshakes. Just don't have two. You WILL get a stomach ache.

And a little sneak peek from a photo shoot that happened this weekend!

Fav. Song

I heard this song a few months ago, and now I feel like I'm hearing it everywhere. And I'm pleased about that. I don't really get the video, but the song is great.

Dreams do come true

Last night Ben took me to the Atlantic's White House Correspondent Dinner's pre-party, where I was able to stare at Clair Danes and Jeremy Renner, but the real thrill was when I went up to Andy Cohen and interuppted what I'm sure was an important conversation with two people to beg for a photo. The interaction went something like this:

Me (running up to him and tapping him on the shoulder): Please, I need to take a picture with you.

Andy Cohen: (Looking a little perturbed but totally amicable) Oh, sure!

[puts arm around me, ben snaps photo]

Me: (as ben takes picture, I whisper) I love your book. I love you.

AC: (silence, smiles)

a few more sentences were exchanged and I ran away.

Anyway. it was worth it. so thank you, andy cohen, for making my life.

I obviously was too excited to control my smile, as I usually try to do in photos, so excuse the extra mile of gums showing.

Iceland

Well gang, I've been in Iceland for the past week! It was jam packed with windy fun, and I can't remember any of the names of the places we visited other than Reykjavik,  but here are some photos!

Cute bird house sculptures.

From Kex Hostel, a super hip place in the city.

We went on a two mile hike up a mountain (sort of) that was the hardest thing I've ever done, but at the end was a hot river that people swam in!!

The coolest bar ever, half owned by the guy from Blur and the Gorillaz.

Terrifying dried shark head in a weird shark museum.

IT WAS SO WINDY. ALL THE TIME.

HERRING.

The view in the city from a church.

The famous blue lagoon!!

in concludion, iceland is super stylish and designy and expensive and awesome.
