Coat Hanger

We are just in a DIY mood lately. It must be the fresh country air.

I posted earlier about cool wall hooks I've been seeing. So I decided to make my own!

I'll be posting the steps as I do them.

First, i printed out a honeycomb image I found online.
Then I cut out each hexagon using an Xacto knife.

It took a long time.

Especially since I was indulging in wine.

Then I painted the piece of wood yellow! Or maybe I painted the piece of wood yellow, and THEN cut out the stencil.

And then, using very amateur stenciling techniques, I put the tile on the piece of wood, and using a black sponge paint brush, I sort of mushed in the blue paint into the hexagon spaces. Obviously, it needs a tad touching up.

So, that's it so far. I finished the piece of wood. Still have to fix up the yellow spots. And buy some kind of hooks tomorrow to screw on. !! Can't wait to hang all the stuff on our floors on it!

EmbroiderBling

For a while now I've been fantasizing about a series of things called EmbroiderBling. Finally, I finished one! I can't tell if it looks good or like a 4 year decided to do her own thing in art class. Thoughts?

Modge Podge Vase!

After months of wanting to do this, I finally made one! All it takes is an empty wine bottle (or any glass bottle. Or plastic I guess!), Modge Podge, and pretty tissue paper.

I cut the letters out of brightyellow legal pad paper, but you can't really tell in the pictures. In reality its much brighter and more vivid.

I love it. I can't wait to get a big single daisy to put in it, or maybe a branch to hang jewelry on.

MAG-nificent solution

This post is a bit on the craftier side of things. I was looking for a spice rack to spice up my minuscule kitchen. True, right now I think the only spices I own are rosemary and...wait...there's another one...oregano. SO maybe I don't need a whole spice rack, but I digress. In my search for a future spice rack, I found this craftastic solution! All the author did was get watch maker tins, hot glue super strong magnets to the backs, and affixed them to the oven. In another picture, the are on the wall. I can't wait to try it! Go here for complete instructions. 2modern
