Modge Podge Vase!

After months of wanting to do this, I finally made one! All it takes is an empty wine bottle (or any glass bottle. Or plastic I guess!), Modge Podge, and pretty tissue paper.

I cut the letters out of brightyellow legal pad paper, but you can't really tell in the pictures. In reality its much brighter and more vivid.

I love it. I can't wait to get a big single daisy to put in it, or maybe a branch to hang jewelry on.

Bees!

I took some pictures of bees and honey at work today. I love the geometry and the colors.

And this is a wee little penguin at the Science Park T-Stop who I always say hello to.

Weekend

So, I'm still not sure if anyone has started to read this blog yet, but I will continue to talk to "you" because it's fun, and maybe eventually some day a "you" will exist! So, let's get on with it then.

What are you doing this weekend? Last night I saw Flight of the Conchords at the Agganis Arena at Boston. They were very adorable and very funny. My favorite, Eugene Mirman, opened without anyone knowing he was going to be there, and then Mel from the show was the next opener! She wore hilarious gold sequined capris which she said she had to kill a genie to get.

Tonight I am going to my friends' (that's right, two friends!) apartment for a flower theme party! What, oh what to wear? A trip to TJ Maxx might be in order.

Hopefully I'll get some time to make something things tomorrow. Stay tuned for my newest creations!

Free time?

My brother sent me this link the other day. We are both big Royal Tenenbaum fans, and these captioned video clips explain the design influences and decisions in the movie, made by Matt Zoller Setiz. There are 5 "video essays", and each one covers a different topic! My attempt to upload the video directly to my blog was thwarted, so you'll just have to go all the way over to the website to watch it. But it's worth it!

Beautiful find

I recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon Design Crush, a really great website with fantastic tid bits and images.  One of my favorite posts features an image of Bob Dylan made out of a cassette tape by  iri5's Ghost in the Machine. Brilliant.

New site!

Tonight I launched my new site design. Do you like it?

Record Lamp

My mom just gave me a stack of 45's, and I knew right then and there I had to make a lamp. My initial vision was making something more like a globe, with the light bulb in the middle. But after laboriously boiling portions of the records and getting unhealthily covered in epoxy glue, I decided to call it quits and have a half globe kind of hanging lamp shade. It looks pretty great, but I have yet to get a good picture of it! What do you think? Etsy worthy?

It's a Canon Rebel!

Ben and I just had our first really good camera. It's a Canon SLR! We can't stop playing with it. Here are a few shots Ben took of things in our apartment.

My little wall of treasures.

My hand lamp.

Super impressive photo collage from our summer road, mapping our route of a map. Steve made it for Ben for his birthday.

Right in my backyard!

I saw this article in the Boston Phoenix this morning and thought it was so cool. It's about an ex duck boat driver named Gonzo who turned a run down house in Allston into a thriving artistic community, where people rent rooms, and where his down and out friends can get their lives together. The house is dubbed NASA- New Allston School of Art. Tenants must go through a lengthy interview and audition process before they can rent a room (Gonzo claims that since he is going to have to listen to their music all day, he has to at least like it.) The house really reminded me of staying at Steve's brother's house in New Orleans during the summer road trip, only more clean and...with less slugs. Here are some pictures from the article. Read it in it's entirety here.
