Should I buy these?

hold on to your tiny hats!

"The smallest frog in the Old World (Asia, Africa and Europe) and one of the world's tiniest was discovered inside and around pitcher plants in the heath forests of the Southeast Asian island of Borneo. The pea-sized amphibian is a species of microhylid, which, as the name suggests, is composed of miniature frogs under 15 millimeters"

Chunky Monkeys

I'm liking these two new large and in charge rings.

Also, packing is the pits.

Everything is so heavy!! There are going to be so many boxes!! SO MANY BOXES. What do you do to make packing not the worst thing ever?

Gal's night out

Last night I went out with Daniela and Emily (my bff's since first grade) to celebrate the engagement. We went to our favorite bar called Drink on Fort Point in Boston, which is too cool for words. Our friendly bartender even gave us free shots of (strange) strawberry liquor that has been brewing for a really long time. Or something like that. It was a delight.

LIST

1. We've decided on MASS MoCA for the wedding next September.

2. This is my engagement ring (that my dad made). It's an old mine cut diamond! The side view is my favorite.

3. My last craft show at SOWA is this Sunday. See you there?

4. There's a marathon of old Housewives of NY episodes on, meaning no work will get done today.

5. I am hooked on oxidation! My new favorite earrings:

Hm. I think that's it? Tell me things!

Fame and Fortune

Not really, but after a VERY strange series of events, my favorite author of all time Myla Golderg posseses one of my rings. Not only that, but it's on the front page of her website! I might faint.

(She wrote Bee Season, and is in the band The Walking Hellos)

Scenes from a Craft Fair

Last Sunday I set up at SOWA in the South End of Boston! Some images for your enjoyment :)

Don't i look like a giant?

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Oh, hello there.

Greetings from Mt. Pleasant, DC! Ben and I came down for a couple days to look at an apartment building near by. It has a pool on the roof! Snazzy. So instead of panicking about wedding locations (it feels so weird to rush to reserve some place for a wedding more than a year away), we're focusing on finding an apartment. I think we found one, so now we're just relaxing in a house full of friends.

At the airport, I bought a Real Simple wedding magazine, and when I was paying, the cashier said, "Are you getting married?"

And I said "Yes, but I'm mostly getting this $14.00 magazine because it comes with a free subscription."

And she said, "I can tell you'll make a good wife."

It was cute.

Anyway, it's maybe the best magazine I ever purchased, and there are no ads, and it's beautiful and has check lists and great ideas. I'm also thinking of pears for a possible theme, and the inviation would say, "We make a great pear!"

Right? Right?!

Anyway, it's rainy out here in DC, and we are waiting to see if the people who put a "soft hold" on our dream venue (i'll tell you later, i don't want to jinx it) on our dream date will chicken out and we can get it. Fingers crossed!

Also, how adorable an idea is is to print invites on vintage hankies?!

La la la

Stress levels are lowering. Slightly.

We went to Ben's grammy's house to look at her rings, and I took this picture of us in the car that I love.

Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement!

Distractions!

A little fish bone ring and rain drop necklace for your enjoyment.

stressball.

Have you ever been so stressed out and confused that you don't even know what to do with yourself? I have so many things I need to do but somehow all I can manage is to sit on the couch, waste time on the computer, and watch Desperate Housewives. What's wrong with me?

Things I accomplished today:

-Made a cup of instant Starbucks coffee (I had a battle with the french press, and the french press won.)

-Had a panic attack about having to pack everything again.

- Started to move things off of tables and into little piles to make things look more organized, when really they just made things more messy.

- Almost finished a weird blob of rain drops pendant that I'll take pictures of soon.

- Organized things for the craft fair on Sunday (see you there?)
1. And then panicked that I don't have enough jewelry/I'm forgetting important things.

Until you all shower me with encouragement and words of wisdom, I'm just going to stay sitting on this couch, thinking about eating Pad Thai. Is that ok?

hm.

Things that have happened in the past two days:

Ben and Rachel moved to Boston.
Ben got a job in DC.
Ben proposed.
Ben and Rachel are moving to DC.

Needless to say, things are crazy, exciting, adorable, stressful, and adorable. I don't have any cute pictures yet or a specific ring per say, but these things shall be rectified this weekend! More deets to come, just wanted you all to know why I hadn't posted anything exciting lately!

Something's Fishy

All weekend I couldn't stop thinking about making a fish skeleton necklace. I can't tell if it's gross or cute. Thoughts?

I *think* it's cute...sigh. i don't even know anymore.

Also, I am in love with Guatemalan food. you?

The Sunday Rachel Edition

I, like most people on the internet, can't stop seeing who is mentioning me. Thanks to Social Mention, which sometimes works out and sometimes doesn't, I found out that I am considered a Mad Genius on this beautiful blog, and that my bike ring was a Pulp Friday Fashion find on Slice of Style! It doesn't take much to make my day.

Also, I found out that I got into the Twist fair in November in Northampton! Very excited indeed.

AND I'm setting up at my first of three sundays at SOWA in South end of Boston. I am going crazy getting a display together. It involves lots of birdhouses I'm painting, and a mini clothes line...I'll keep you posted.

But enough about little ol' me. (I'm sorry, sometimes a gal just has to talk about herself for a while) (but wait, that's what this whole blog is! oops.)

So that's all. I saw a dumpster of balloons behind my dorm three years ago, and it's still one of my favorite pictures ever.

Maybe my next post won't be about me. If you're lucky.

orange you glad

Do you ever just feel ever so slightly off kilter? That's what today was like.

I think if i had this in my living room I would never feel off kilter again.

In other news, I totes bought this dress from Anthro tonight. It was on sale. That's my only excuse.

Cloudy Day Blues

I've been meaning to make this necklace for over a year, and I'm so glad I did. It embodies today pretty well. Not to toot my own horn, but have you ever seen such cute little rain drops in your life before?

In other news, I learned about this website from my brother called Oh Life. Every day they send you an email asking how your day was, and you respond with how your day was. Then it stores your replies in a little web journal that you can read, and look back at old days! Isn't that the best?

Search Team

I have a whole bundle of craft fairs coming up, and would do ANYTHING to get more of these yellow rubber honey comb ice trays. They are perfect for displaying rings in (right??)

Anyway, if anyone out there sees them in a store or anything, I will give you some kind of reward. Most likely jewelry based.

Crystal Finale

This is what the crystals turned into (in case you were wondering. i'm sure you were dying to know.)

Scenes from the work bench

I can't wait to figure out what to do with these purple crystals! I made little sterling silver caps for them and stamped tiny hearts. One necklace? Two? I don't know!

I also made a truck load of bow earrings to up coming craft fairs! it's like a little army.

Shelves!

For the past couple of years, Ben and I have been living dresser-less. For whatever reason, we have survived on closets, hooks, and the floor. Bureaus are just so big and heavy and expensive! So when I was in Target wandering around aimlessly, I stumbled upon this metal shelving unit. We bought it for $60 and now it feels like I sleep in a Gap, or a some kind of storage
warehouse. What fun!

target, sweet target

I love target. And now I'll love it even more when I can buy a thousand more purses I don't really need but really really want, when Poketo starts to sell there on August 10th!

I am on FIRE

I am a jewelry making machine today!! Just finished up this little baby, which I am swooning over. It started off as a completely different ring. I wanted to make it into a necklace, but have serious issues with making things into things other than rings. Who am I, Dr. Suess?

Anyway, I can't wait to make a necklace and earrings to match!

Pearl in Orbit

I love making these rings because I never know how it will turn out! This one reminds me of a solar system, thus the name. I added little 14k gold beads for an extra fancy-pants quality. I love the idea of it as an engagement ring!

New things!

Working from home means many things. One thing is that I can watch Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List, which is an absolute hoot. Another thing is that I can eat all of the frozen Trader Joe's Indian food that I want for lunch!

In other news, I made and listed these today:

I must be on some kind of green kick.
