Coral Earrings

How do we like these little diddies?

By Our Hands We Live

So, recently, I've noticed how disgusting my hands are becoming. But in a good way! I'm getting cuts and scabs and calluses and burns and I'm loving every minute of it. It made me want to see other artists' hands! Thus, "By Our Hands We Live" was born.

So I'm setting a date: December 10th. Send me your dirty, creative, bleeding-after-a-long-day-of-making-things hands, and I will post them all on December 10th with your name and a link to your website. What could be better? I'll get the ball rolling:

Send them on over!! Pfeffer.rachel @ Gmail.com.

Can't wait to see them!

making things!

Well, kiddos, it's not only Monday, but it's CYBER Monday, so here's to being busy! Off to the shop to make some orders and hopefully design some new fangled earrings I'm excited about...will have pictures later today! In the mean time, (haha mean time. Like an angry clock?) think about how dignified you'd be if you had these Whiskey Stones. Throw them in the freezer, put them in your drink, and it won't get diluted!! Plus offering someone a whiskey stones sounds pretttty cool.

What do I get B?

I realize that in other blogs, gals often call their significant others by their first initials. I like that. From now on, Ben will be called B.

So, what do I get B for the holidays?

He likes writing. And traveling. And distinguished things, like pocket watches. But I already gave him a pocket watch.
And I already gave him a Bullet Buddy.

I even gave him a pillowcase with my face on it:

(That's B under the pillow).

So, readers, suggestions?

Gimmel All Your Lovin'

The previous Hanukkah post put me in the mood. So I made this.

I must give Ben credit for coming up with the glorious pun. Ben, I thank thee.

Hannukaahnahchkanua

My friend and old roommate, Rachel (one of the three), is in a band called the Bachelorettes, based out of Jackson, MI. They all wear wigs and sing fun 60's girl pop kind of music. They put together a Hannukah compliation that comes with goodies like a dreidel, tattoos, mini zine and more! What could be better?

Order it here. Sooo yeah. Listen to them here.

My favorite song is Ballad of Lou and Mona.

New biddies!

Monday.

You know, I don't mind Mondays.

Soon I'm going off toPilatEEZE (eztra easy pilates, probably full of old people).

I'll let you know how it goes.

Stockings...

...on trees!

Pants I bought.

The skinny black pant search has come to an end! Serena jeans by Mavi.

No, no, I'm not that skinny. and i dont have those little flats.

I do, however, have sparkly silver shoes, an oversized grey sweater, and a whole lot of gumption. That's got to be worth something.

i don't like my dog that much..

have you seen commercials for the pet snuggie? wouldn't it just covered in dog pee and poo? do dogs even get cold?

They're baaack.

Yep! It's that time of year again. Get your loved one (or enemy, I don't care), a one of a kind, handmade stash warmer! You choose the fleece color, and the stash style, and bada bing bada boom, it will be in your hands post haste.

Some happy customers, including myself:

NIMH

Remember Secrets of NIMH? It's on the cartoon channel right now. Don't judge, I'm waiting for coffee to brew. Coffee is a grown up thing. And I'm stalling because my dad is waiting for me to help clean the windows and paint the porch. Can you blame a girl?

Anyway, NIMH. I don't remember much about it, but I remember being scared. Fun Wikipedia fact: "a 1982 animated film adaptation of the Newbery Medal-winning book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (Mrs. Frisby's name is changed to "Brisby" in the film due to trademark concerns with Frisbee discs.)

Hm. Those mice look awfully like the mice from An American Tale.
Anyway, enjoy your sunday!! Especially if you are watching NIMH right now.

I repeat. Not a requirement.

Unless you like strangely salty, cardboard-like graham crackers. Ick.

Verdict: too healthy.

Tiger's Milk Bars

You know when you grew up eating something all the time, and then kind of stopped, and it's a distant memory, and you visualize it in your head for years, and then you come upon it again and it's totally not what you remembered it being?

I present to you: Tiger's Milk Bars

1) what kind of name is that? is it supposed to sound appealing?

2)what kind of LABEL is that? did my parents think i was training to be a long distance runner? what did i need such violent energy for? a safari?

I guess those are all the points I have to make. Anyway, now that I'm home, I found a stash in the pantry and can't stop eating them. Even though it's I think 400 calories and should supply me with enough energy to milk a tiger. But it's chocolatey and peanut butter-ish. So who cares?

good night.

Jewelry Holder

Just remembered this little diddy I made a while ago. Collage an empty wine bottle, stick some branches in there, and you got yourself a jewelry holder!

Also make a pretty vase!

I know, I know

We're bored of kirby. but he likes to SIT ON MY SHOULDERS LIKE PARROT. (with assistance from the back of the couch.)

Double Swoon

My heart went all a flutter when I saw this on the Stuller website. You send in your handwritten message and they engrave it on your wedding bands!

My goodness. It might be a bit much to have the handwriting on the outside of the band, but on the inside? I can't think of anything more romantic.

Good gravy.

Speaking of wedding rings, I just posted this new ring.

It has a little faceted gold nubby on one end and a sparkling diamond in a gold bezel on the other. Things it remind me of: hugs, rivers, synergy, love, compatibility. Too cheesy? Never.

Frost!

I went out this morning to take a photo of a couple photos of rings and had to RUN back inside. So cold!! You can see the frost on the banister in this photo.

Obligatory Kirby Photo

This dog's favorite place in the house is on the edge of this couch, legs splayed like snoopy. I can't not take a picture of it. Right now is head is on my leg. Best. Thing. Ever.

Mini Stockings Craft!

In the jewelry store, we are making one of the window boxes feature Stocking Stuffer priced items. Obviously, this requires adorable, tiny, construction paper made stockings. I took pictures of the process. They would be adorable on the wall in little rows. Take a peek:

Materials: White construction paper, red paper, regular scissors, scalloped edged scissors, yarn, needle, thread, glue stick.
I outlined little stocking shapes.

Then, I cut out the shapes!

Then I cut a strip of white paper with the pinking shears, so the top was straight.

Then I cut the white strip into shorter strips the same length as the top of the stockings, or a little longer.

Then I used the glue stick to attach the white parts!

Next, I took the needle and thread and sewed each stocking to the piece of yarn.

Ta- da!

My latest purse

Was my grandmas. She took it from her sister. I'll pretend it's real... Maybe it is?

Modmix- Reposted from 2Modern Blog

Organic Cocktail Mix

I love a good cocktail, but hate how all the mixes I ever find are chock full of chemicals and colors. Imagine my delight when I spotted a rack with these Modmix bottles on it while shopping in a co-op the other day. Organic! With flavors like Lavender Lemon Drop, Citrus Margarita, and French Martini, I was tempted to buy all of them. And the bottles! Such beautiful labels. What makes this brand even more wonderful is that it was started and is run by three women:

"Modmix was created by Gretchen Nix, Joni Ryan and Tricia McCracken. All three co-founders share a love for design, organic living and, of course, a finely crafted cocktail. But when they first began on the Modmix journey, they had only a dream, a little cash and a lot of drive. Together they knew that the premium spirits market was long overdue for something new: a luxurious organic cocktail mixer. As Gretchen personally created each signature Modmix recipe, Tricia and Joni joined in with a unique strategy, creating an unforgettable look for the Modmix brand. The result: A product that tastes as beautiful as it looks."

Lavender Lemon Drops cocktails will be on my mind for the rest of the day
