Tropicana's Mistake

For a long time I couldn't decide how I felt about Tropicana's new orange juice containers. They do look much sleeker and design-friendly, but they lacked the wholesome and familiar edge that I so loved about the delicious nectar. Apparently I wasn't the only with conflicting thoughts. My friend Sammy went so far as to email the company complaining about how sterile and commercial the new look was, and in return got a free coupon (lucky!)

And after seeing a post on Notcot.org, it looks like they will be reverting back. More here.

a year in a cage

There is an article in the NY Times today about an exhibition at the Moma that features 365 pictures of Tehching Hsieh locked in a cage in his house, with absoolutely nothing to do. A friend came and took a picture every day of the year, documenting his transformations. It was one of five year long art experiments he executed. Another one consisted of him having to press a button on a clock every hour for an entire year. Can you imagine? Read the article here.

Bacon Balls

I was at brunch the other day (perhaps the first time I've ever gone out for brunch), and my friend Emily got bacon with her eggs. They were rolled in a delightful ball of ribbon that I just wanted to hang from around my neck.

Beautiful Bottles

Here's my latest post from blog.2modern.com:

One of my favorite things about going liquor shopping is perusing the wine bottle aisle and admiring the lovely labels.

You can imagine my excitement when I found this website, via NotCot.org:

Look at these wine bottles!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Totally unrelated to V-Day, I recently discovered Mixed Plate, a lovely blog by a gal named Liana in San Fran. It was there that I found this post on Moustache Dressers which I adore.

They are made by designer Rob Southcott. It makes me wonder what I'll do to satisfy MY mustache cravings when warm weather rolls around and no one will need any Stash Warmers.

Sad. i do love how the drawers just look like they are smiling, totally content with their lives.

Thanks Liana!

Smart or icky?

Pretty rad guerrilla ad campaign for Scotch Brite sponges. What happens when it absorbs too much water though, do people just go around wringing it out?

And won't it get really gross from everyone's dribble gathering and festering in it?

Gross or not? Can't tell.

Magpie!

For all you Bostonians out there, make sure to stop by Magpie in David Square. I just dropped off some things last week for consignment, and am hoping they will sell! Everyone was super nice there, and the store is full of amazing things.

Dream Meta Watch

A while ago I discovered this watch. I think it was in a holiday issue of Ready Made Magazine. In any event, I spent many days pining for it, only to come to terms with the fact that it is too expensive and hard to locate. It is no longer being made by Swatch, but sometimes I like to find it online and just say hello, i love you, i miss you. It is based off of Swatch's Once Again watch, a simple black and white wrist piece.

Candle Love

Whenever I am in a mall (not that often anymore. thanks a LOT urbia(?) (opposite of
suburbia?) I love to go to Crate and Barrel and stare at their shelves of glassware. There is something about rows of slightly different styles of champagne flutes that really floats my handblown glass gravy boat.

While wandering around in a delightful daze, I found this tea-light holder, and my heart went pitter patter.
Only $5.00! I really dig this newfound meta-glass-look that's been going around. Last year I bought my brother a glass cup like this from Crate and Barrel, that supposedly keeps hot drinks hot. I think I'm the only person that uses it when I go to his apartment.
But back to tea lights. Shortly after seeing this globular beauty, I saw this:
Have you ever seen something so wonderful?

Of course, I didn't get it. No, instead I spent way too much money on a dress from Anthropologie that I fell in love with  more. There goes my lunch money for the week!

This just in!

I just found this at asos.com. Maybe in love.

New Purse Search/Bag Rant

I need a new purse.

I have a very specific purse in mind. I want to be able to take it to work, so it has to be a pretty decent size. It needs to fit lunch, a book, big wallet. However, I hate giant bags. I mean, come on. You aren't carrying a koala or anything, why such a big bag?

And these. These bags, I swear, I was surrounded by three of them today:The Longchamp "Le Pliage" totes must possess some kind of magical powers. Is it just me, or are they a tad boring? I'm going to scream if I see one on the train ride back. Which I will. So it's going to be an embarrassing commute home.

But back to my search. I want it to be able to go across my chest, because I hate when straps fall off my shoulders. Too picky? I don't think so.

In conclusion, if anyone knows of a dream bag that fits this fairly vague and unhelpful description perfectly, let me know. Thanks.

Funny things on the train.

Hello.

I've been noticing lots of funny things on the train lately. (I live in Boston). And I really really wish I carried around a camera.

the first thing was a guy, pretty bulky, wearing a leather jacket and baseball cap, sitting across from me. At first he looked like a regular joe, but then I realized a tiny little brown puppy was zippered up in his coat, just so that his head was poking out! And the puppy would crane his head around, and the big guy would blow on his face and in his ear and talk puppy talk to him!

I guess you'll just have to imagine it.

Also, today, two girls were sitting next to each other reading a book by Jodi Picoult. I wanted to point it out to them but I didn't.

In other news,

I found this lovely blog, Black Box Reviews, who said some lovely words about my newest Pacman earrings! http://blackboxreviews.blogspot.com/.

She also posted about an Etsy shop that sells this Valentines Day Card:
I hope Ben gives me a card like that.

If only I could crochet...

So I recently discovered Craft Cult, a delightful little website where you can plug in your Etsy shop, and see which of your items have hearts, who made you a favorite, etc. I've often wished there was a way to see this easily instead of having to open each individual item's page!

You can also see who has shops out of the people who heart you. Which lead me to rediscover Soft Spoken's Shop. The pictures are so bright and colorful, and I want each and every crocheted delight she is selling.

Mmm. Sunshine. My favorite kind of shine.
