Manly Banister?

I found a book in my house from a few decades ago on how to make anything. Like a lamp from two lamp shades, or how to rewire a radio or some such.

The author of most of the articles was named Manly Banister. Manly Banister!

I wish I had this book, too. What a simple cover!

Four Eyes

I found my brothers oooold glasses from like, 10 years ago. I thought I needed a change, so, 5 days later, I have my lenses in them! I think I like them. Do you?

Kirby in Pink

How relaxed is little Kirby relaxing in a pink fuzzy blanket, in the autumn sun?

Via 2Modern

My newest post from 2 Modern blog:

Once I tried my hand at paper cutting art, in a cereal box, and failed miserably. Which is why I'm so in awe of artists like Anastassia Elias and her toilet paper tubes!

Boden

I just found a little catalogue for Boden in my house. Who are these people? What is this? I want everything in that tiny little magazine, and I never even heard of it! Here are some of my favorites:Have you ever seen such a fun skirt? Seriously. Ever?

My favorite color. My favorite fabric. The inside is PURPLE AND WHITE POLKA DOTS. Rachel Jarman, if you are reading this, I'm claiming it first! and I'm NOT copying you.
If it rained more, I would maybe buy this. Probably not. But it's adorable.

There's so much more. Who are these people?? Every item has a little fashion show video of a model moving around and walking in the garment. I'm flabbergasted, and filled with want.

Yummy mojitos

I just found this picture I took of a mojito at an Indian restaurant in the South End of Boston, and fell in love with it all over again. So bright, and tasty looking! Mmmm, I want one now.

Fun gals

At the craft fair I had a few 'stash warmers from last winter on sale, and two lovely ladies bought a couple to wear! They were hilarious and fun, and I had to take a picture of them.

Roomba Names

I was thinking about our old Roomba, whom Ben and I dubbed Howie Roombert, who we gave to my brother on loan after we left the apartment. It got me thinking about what other people name their Roombas. Here is what I found, from a variety of sites:

Red Rover
Rosie (like the Jetsons. Meh)
Marilyn Monrobot (ha!)
Frenchy
Gertrude
Boogie Bot
RoomBob
Antonio
Vista

Not too impressed with my findings. What would you/did you name yours?

I have a crush on....

...Design Crush, who will be giving away one of my honeybee necklace next week! Her latest crush is on these photos by Beth Retro. Now I'm in love too.

Uknown Legend

I love this Neil Young cover by Tunde Adbimpe from TV on the Radio, and is in the movie Rachel Getting Married.

H Street, DC

This post comes from the sunny DC. I moved Ben into his basement with Noah (lovely man cave). They live in the NE section of DC, on Capital Hill. Very neato area. If you walk one way, its ritzy townhouses, and you walk the other way, it gets a little more hairy. A couple blocks away lie H Street. Among the hair salons and corner stores and "carry outs" are peppered a variety of quirky bars and restaurants.Above is Granville Moore's (right). A million Belgium beers and they messed up in the kitchen so we ended up getting free mussels! It was the best night of our life. Our plans to get Martini's next door were thwarted by a private party that had rented out the whole bar.
After, you can get sandwiches, REALLY good sandwiches, at this amazingly deli called Taylor's. It was recently featured in Dwell. My poor little camera died, so here's a pic from the Dwell sight. Read more about it there!
