Ready for my close up!

Today, I made this ring:

During an attempt to take photographs of my big bike earrings (its so hard to take good pictures of them on!) I ended up with these two funny shots.  I feel like you could just crawl into one of my gigantic pores.

I'm also ghostly pale. Maybe I should start wearing make up.

Bitter as a lemon.

How amazing is this big clock/little clock set up at an Anthropologie store?

Which was from Ruthi Auda's blog, who, from what I gather, makes displays for Anthropologie. I don't think I've ever been so jealous of anyone's job in my entire life.

Speaking of glueing things in Anthropologie, the one in Georgetown is always hiring VISUAL DESIGN interns, but you have to be a college student! What's the deal? I'd glue pompoms onto branches for a kitkat bar.

And that's tonight's post.

Poor, poor nails.

I painted my nails PERFECTLY a couple of days ago. Not even kidding, I did 4 layers of polish. Now look at them, the sad babies.

Now, off into nature to journey to the hardware store.

Initials!

I decided to make an initial line! So far I have M, R, and A. More to come soon. What do we think?

Stairwell Shoot

I'm going to try to take a photo a day of myself in the stairwell of the building. I'm pretty sure there aren't cameras in there, but if there are, the people watching them probably choked on their sandwiches when I set the camera up on a step, ran to the wall, and repeatedly posed for no one.

Anyway, I thought I would reward myself for being a good little worker by going to Target on my way back from the Post Office. Let me tell you, there was NOT a good clothing selection. I miss my old Target :(.

I did, however stumble upon the clearance rack. Apparently when the Target in Harlem opened up, Harlem designer Stephen Burrows made a line. I can't even tell if I like the dresses I bought, but they were $7.00, and I'm 100% positive that 9th grade me would have paid a million dollars, so I thought that had to count for something. Maybe I can wear it for a Halloween costume? Rainbow Bright?

I still want to be a mirror, but I'm not sure how to go about making a mirror mask. What are you going to be?

Red Dress

True story: my mom had a red wedding dress, and so did my soon-to-be mom-in-law.

Funny, right?
Here's a pic of my mom (now) trying on her old dress.

It's sunday. I'm going to make something bye!

Nordstrom Wedding Dresses

Who knew Nordstrom had such a great and AFFORDABLE wedding dress selection??

I reaaaaally like this shortie, only $398

Black yellow white

Who needs a photographer when you have a stair case and a timer on the camera?
I love the colors!

Also I just realized my nails match my pants perfectly.

Ok. Right now, I'm going to make a fun ring, and maybe a small camera necklace. GO!

Wine and potatoes.

That has been dinner. I boiled 4 little baby potatoes (which, by the way, took forever), mashed them, put some milk and butter (fine, fake butter) and cheese in the bowl and smushed my little heart out. Then I had some wine. Then I did this in the bathroom mirror:

I also tried making an inverted bunting necklace using the new leather, which I think I like.

Wide awake.

So the fiance's new job came with a new schedule. He has to be in his office by 6:00 a.m every day, which means he has to wake up around 5:00 a.m to get there on time. Which means he goes to sleep early, which means I wake up late, which means I go to sleep late. It's a terrible cycle. So now even though it's only 11:00 pm, it feels like it's 2 am. Yeah?

I also haven't gotten an email since 2:00 pm. Not even a spam. Isn't that ridiculous?

And I was all excited about my leather bow jewelry and they are barely getting any views.

waaah waaah waaaaaaaaaah.

ok ok no more complaining! some things that have piqued my interest as of late:

I would very much like to wear this Anthropologie dress to a holiday party. Why isn't it on sale now?

For some reason I never actually liked Futurama. But I do appreciate this embroidery by Itsastitch. So much so that I would laugh at it a lot on my wall. More than I do at the show.  Am I making sense anymore?

How has it taken me so long to learn that Confetti System exists? I want to  be that.

Anyway. Here I am. Awake at a reasonable time while the tired little puppy of a boy is sound asleep. Maybe I should try that whole "reading a book" thing again. Any suggestions?

Metallic Moo

What do we think of the first four items in my Metallic Moo collection? I was so excited to use my new leather that I could barely sleep last night!! I love the combination of the soft and floppy leather with the sterling silver.

Finished Cards

Here are some delightful photos of the new jewelry cards in action (and good lighting)!

In other news, I successfully ruined a perfectly beautiful manicure by trying to paint some of the yellow polish over the purple. The results are less than desirable.

This I like.

Cards

A couple of days ago Emily and I spent all afternoon stamping and making display cards for upcoming craft fairs! We got the blanks from the Paper Source, glued on the pretty little circles and flowers, and went stamping crazy!

Emily visits DC

Remember when I went on vacation and my friend Emily posted like, 2 things? Well, she came to visit me in DC this week, and yesterday we had an absolute ball.

First we went to ultra hip Tryst cafe and had my new favorite thing, a Chaipaccino. It's like a latte and a chai combined and tastes like everything I've ever liked in the world. Amazing. As Emily said, it was like drinking a cloud pillow that tasted like Christmas.

I caught Em mid sentence. Mid hilarious sentence.
Note how amazing those drinks look!

Next we went to Dupont Circle to catch a bus to Georgetown, but first stopped in a make-up store. We were drawn in by bright orange nail polish in the window. Little did we know that if we bought the $10.00 polishes, we would get free manicures! and even MORE little did we know, it was part of an effing CVS. It was like Sephora, but if you walked to the back, there was an entry into CVS. I still don't understand, but the nail polish is called POP. And we approve.

And then we went SHOPPING in Georgetown. I know, not the edgiest afternoon. But boy oh boy did we have fun. I tried on a funny flying squirrel dress in H&M.

Then I tried on a shirt that had a really rad back but a really blah front.
I'm so glad sequins are back in a big way.

And then we tried on really funny beard/scarves that I think we should have bought.

And then I bought these shoes after we spent  maybe an hour making a mess in Aldo.

Be Bold

I just finished this chunk o' beauty. I'm pleased with the quote I decided to stamp around the bezel!

"Be bold, be bold, and everywhere be bold."- Herbert Spencer.

What's more appropriate for a bolder than bold ring?

Weekend

Hello friends!

This weekend just flew by, didn't it? Two night ago we went to our friend's house for a David Wax Museum house show, which was a blast. Some photos!

Suze plays a donkey jaw bone that makes an amazing sound!

Pretty Poppies

I recently discovered the stairwell in the apartment building next to the elevator, and it's AMAZING. It's bright and white and breezy with huge windows. It's like a little porch. up high, with glass windows. Anyway, it's going to be my new photo studio I think. Above is a new picture I took of the vase necklace hanging on the wall in the stairwell landing. I dotted the flowers with a little pink nail polish to give it some color.

Here is the view out the window:
