G o od Morning!

Last night, some weird car alarm (or some kind of alarm) went of ALL NIGHT LONG. And it was too hot to close the windows. AND there were by the far the loudest and most obnoxious sirens zooming straight by our heads.

At least it sounded like that.

Anyhoo, now I'm up and my tummy is growling. And we have no food OR coffee. And I can't even tell if I like coffee!!!!

Ok, that should be enough complaining for a little while.

Yesterday I made these little delights, both of which are sort of new territory for me.

First, the FRINGE:

Let me tell you, making a little bit of fringe is no walk in the park, especially when the chain links are teeny tiny and you have to get them onto a teeny tiny ring!!

And then I made this gold and ruby ring, using the skills I learned at the 92nd st Y class!

I definitely need to take some better pictures of it today. These aren't too stellar.
Ok, back to sneezing forever. BYE!

Photo Tidbits

Some tidbits from the weekend:

Last night we went to this bar nearby called Merdian Pint in Columbia Heights, and they have three tables downstairs that have taps right on the table! And your pour it yourself, and it's like a gas station pump, because it measure your pints and says how much you owe as it goes up!

I saw these duct tapes in Target. If only they were around when I was famous for my duct tape purses.

You can't really see the rings in this picture, but the model is wearing my honeycomb and bike ring! In DC's Worn Magazine.

How pretty is this?

Fashion show, fashion show, fashion show at lunch!

So.

Last night I went to my very first fashion show, and boy was it a trip.

I went with my friend Lauren to Fashion:District, a fashion show/pop up shop thing showcasing 7 local DC fashion designers. Ginger Root, of the Lady Tie fame, was one of the designers, and they had a few of my pieces for sale at their table. I LOVED their line, and am excited to see in its entirety tomorrow when its for sale in their shop!

Anyway, everyone was dressed up and fancy and wacky and I felt I did NOT dress for the occasion. Never again will I downplay an outfit.

Today, for instance, I lived by my "dress everyday like Bill Cuningham might ride by on his bike with his camera and see me" motto, wearing my new yellow vintage housedress/mumu with belt and my floppy Carmen Sandiego belt, and then a roofers spackle tool feel off a roof and nearly killed me.

Some pictures:

In conclusion, is was really fun, crowded, and loud.

On Productivity..

I was taking pictures of my tiny bike earrings....

and then this happened:

I guess making animated gifs is going to have to be my new thing.

Ginger Root

Let me tell you a story about two lovely red headed gals from the Midwest who opened a delightful store on U Street in DC called Ginger Root! Oh, and they sew! Oh, and they make old clothes into really awesome new clothes! Oh, and they'll be carrying a small line of  mine including men's accessories and chunky drusy rings!

These are the owners (pic from Washingtonian):

Someday I'll own one of their famous Lady Ties:

Anyhoo, this is one of the men's tie bars that I'm going to have in the store:

I am rather proud of it, if I do say so myself!
And, to top it off, i made this little darling today:

sunday sunday sunday

Ok. Today was filled with lots of teeny nervous break downs. Do you ever get completely stressed out about nothing in particular, but it just seems like everything is something that makes you nervous?

Jewelry, wedding, that's about it I guess.

Anyway, I think this will be the wedding pie topper. (that's right, I said pie. What are you gonna do about it?)

I want my bouquet to be made up of those flowers, like an Epcot center dome of a bouquet.
OK???

It's been a long day. Of watching "The Orphan" and "17 Again." And stamping straggler save the dates.

Boy oh boy.

And the Ben surprised me with the most delicious St. Germain cocktail with pear vodka and fresh muddled grapefruit that brought me back to reality. And silliness.

Mayhaps there will be a video manana.

Speaking of manana, I feel like more and more people are using the word bueno in their everyday vernacular. Which I like, but find funny. Maybe that will be the next Etsy trend. Things with Bueno on it.

Ok, time to drink water. bye!

tUnE-yArds

My friend Amy posted this on her blog, and I am HOOKED.

Nail Polish Class

The video cuts out before I finish explaining my boring craft, so don't worry. Just be warned and try not to cry.

Kites 'n BIkes

My tummy's grumbling.

I made a video with a mediocre nail art tutorial, but the time ran out so it stops abruptly.

And I took pictures today of some new things and some old things!

First things first, some improved photos of some old rings:

and

And then some new things!

I'll upload the video soon, (i hope). I'm too hungry to think!

Pink Pant(her)

I want these from Zara.

There is this tiny pumpkin rotting away on my work bench from October... I can't bring myself to throw it out. Gross.

I also updated this ring with little cubic zirconia set in to some of the caviar! (I learned that from my class.)

And, last but not least, the tiny bike cuff links. Tomorrow I'm going to list the necklaces, but I couldn't wait to put these little handsome devils online!

Whew! That was a hodge podge of a post. Ben is out at a concert, and here I am, watching SVU (obviously), drinking Passover grape juice straight from the bottle, and eating melted cheese on refried beans. My all time favorite!

Business Expense.

This weekend, I went to NYC for a two day jewelry class at the 92nd St Y. Mainly I wanted an excuse to go to New York, but I also learned how to set faceted stones flush in metal, which is exciting! I loved my teacher Sayumo Yokouchi, who's a jeweler in Brooklyn.

Some pictures:
Spotted in..somewhere downton.

There's no rest for the weary!

Oh you know, just stopping in to check out the bathroom at the Waldorf Astoria (that my mum.)

And then in Soho there was a line formed on the corner of Greene and Mercer, and I didn't know why! So we asked, and apparently people were waiting to just go into the new Kardashian store, DASH. So, obviously, we waited in line, and went in, and took a picture. Everything was very. expensive. Obviously.

For lunch we went to this amazing Italian restaurant called Torrisi on Mulberry St., which was AMAZINg. The best chicken parm I ever had.

And then I had time to kill before on my class, and saw a bakery with fabulous bread in the window!

And then I saw someone leaving their amazing brownstown on the upper east side and got super jealous and felt like  a spy and took a picture.

And then there was this written on all of the windows of an apartment.

And then by the end of the weekend I was looking horrendous, but we ate at the restaurant where Drew Barymore and that guy eats at before she moves to California in Going the Distance, so that was exciting!
All in all, a fun, busy, productive weekend. And now I have a zillion orders I need to catch up on, but instead I'm eating sushi and watching last night's Bethanny Ever After. So there.
